Authenticity: Most espadrilles on the market today are mass-produced overpriced imitations, often made in China. True espadrilles are traditionally crafted in France or Spain. If you want to make sure you have a real espadrille, check where it's made, if it's hand stitched, if the sole is made of rope and if the embroidery at the front is real, most are not.

Materials: The soles are crafted from jute thread and recycled textile fibers sourced from Barcelona, while the canvas is 100% organic cotton. All components are sewn by hand and made with organic materials for a sustainable touch.

Did you know?: During the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939), espadrilles became a symbol of Spanish nationalism and were worn by soldiers on both sides.
